Holly Lei (Senior Vice President, Covestro Group, President of Covestro China) is the first local female leader for this position in Covestro China.

Lei started her career at Bayer MaterialScience (the predecessor company of Covestro) in 1999 as a technical representative, and has since increased responsibilities focusing on sales, marketing and R&D . She held various management positions in China, the APAC region and globally, and devoted her cross-industry insights and customer centric mindset to develop Covestro’s business globally.

As a seasoned leader strong at managing dispersed teams, Lei is also an affectionate people leader and excels at fostering an environment that allows people to flourish and develop to their fullest potential. As an avid ambassador of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at Covestro, she is actively involved in promoting Female leadership in the workplace and DEI culture with outstanding contribution and social influence.

Lei holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Dalian University of Technology in China and a master’s degree in material science from Université de Sherbrooke in Canada. She has also received executive training at INSEAD Business School in France.

Lei is also a supervisory board member of GEA Group AG, Vice Chair of the Shanghai Chapter of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, and she was granted with several awards, such as 2020 China Women in Tech by Forbes, 2021, 2022 & 2023 China Most Powerful Women by Fortune, etc.

Prof. Wen Yi received his Bachelor of Medicine from West China University of Medical Science in 1982, Master of Science in History and Philosophy of Science from Notre Dame in 1991, and Ph.D. of Economics from the University of Iowa in 1996. He was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (1996 -- 1999), Assistant Professor of Economics at the Cornell University (1999 -- 2005), and Adjunct Professor at Washington University of St. Louis (2005 -- 2008). Since 2005, he served as a Senior Researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, then was promoted to Assistant Vice President in 2008, and since the same year, he became a Professor of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, CCB Endowed Professor, PhD Supervisor and a scholar of China's National One-Thousand-Talent Program. Prof. Wen Yi was appointed as a Tenured Full Professor at Indiana University (USA) and Warwick University (UK). In August 2021, he resigned from the Federal Reserve and joined Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) as a Professor of Economics. His main courses include Advanced Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Chinese Macroeconomics and History of Industrial Revolution.

Prof. Wen Yi has published more than 50 academic articles in the world's top-tier economic journals, such as Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and other top international academic journals which adopt anonymous peer review. His monographs include "Great China's Industrial Revolution——Critical Outline of the General Principles of Political Economy Development" (Tsinghua University Press, 2016), "The Making of an Economic Superpower——Unlocking China’s Secret of Rapid Industrialization" (in English, World Book Inc Press, 2016), and "The Code of the Scientific Revolution——Guns, War and the Mystery of the Rise of the West" (Oriental Publishing Center Co., Ltd., 2021).

Eric Zheng worked in management consulting with PwC in the U.S. and later served for the U.S. Department of Commerce as the principal commercial officer at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou. Eric had a long career with AIG in Greater China and held a series of positions that culminated in his service as CEO of AIG China. He also chairs the board of Heng An Standard Life Insurance Company.

In volunteer roles, Eric serves as the Greater China regional chair of the Committee of 100 and as a board director of Shanghai Make-A-Wish Charity Foundation. In 2016, the Shanghai municipal government has granted Eric its Magnolia Gold Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the city. Eric holds a BA from Fudan University and an MBA from Georgetown University.

Eric started as president on January 1, 2022. He has been involved in the Chamber for over 15 years as a member, committee leader, Board member, Board treasurer, Board secretary, and Board vice chair, before serving as Board chair during 2018 and 2019.

Weisi Xie is the Shanghai Director at the Economist Intelligence Corporate Network (EICN), and is responsible for engaging with top executives in the region on key economic and political issues as well as industry-specific analysis to support their businesses in the dynamic Chinese market.

Mr. Xie served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University before joining EICN. As a trained trade economist, his teaching and research mainly focused on the fields of international trade, industrial economics and economic development, with a particular emphasis on China’s economy in a global perspective. He also possesses extensive expertise in the non-profit sector through work experience with think tanks and international organizations, including the Shanghai Institute for National Economy and the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he contributed to multiple government counseling projects and policy studies. His work has appeared in leading academic journals as well as major economic policy publications.

Mr. Xie has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a B.A. in International Business from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics.
