WiFA Book Club
The Networking Committee is pleased to launch a new 2020 initiative - the Book Club.
The Networking Committee is pleased to launch a new 2020 initiative - the Book Club.
We will host events or partner with other Committees to elaborate on the 2020 WIFA theme of 'Creating the Workforce of the Future'. It is an event to celebrate women’s achievements by taking this world in our own hands and shaping its future.
The first Book Club to be held in April/May will focus on the book “Future Proof: Reinventing Work in an Age of Acceleration” by Diana Wu David
Diana is a former Financial Times executive, and an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School's EMBA Glibal Asia. She is a board director, strategist and storyteller with a focus on helping companies and executives to be more entrepreneurial, resilient and successful in the face of constant change.
In the session, speakers and panellists will share stories and discuss how to have a productive, fulfilling career in the disruptive globalised world.
We will share more details in the upcoming newsletters, including alternative arrangements in the even this cannot take place at a venue in person.

If you have any suggestions, why not reach out to our WiFA Networking Committee Co-chairs Jennifer Hsieh and Bernice Choi.

Anxious season

Monthly Sharing - Bonnie So
Living in Hong Kong has not been easy. The novel coronavirus has brought an additional sense of emotional and physical tension. If you are feeling stressed, you are certainly not alone. Sharing this heartwarming video from Wuhan residents, each of them continues to be affected by strict policies of self -confinement but managed supporting each other and Wuhan city in the face of adversity.

As we navigate through these uncertain times, Benedicte Nolens, WiFA Cochair shared some Mental Health Tips written by MindHK.

Bene mentioned, “It is normal to feel worried, stressed and anxious when we are faced with uncertain situations, but the sooner we acknowledge and learn to take care of our mental health, the healthier and better equipped we’ll be to cope with the situation we're having to face.

Taking care of your mental health (I would add “and physical health” - per the Romans: mens sana en corpore sano - a healthy mind in a healthy body) and checking in on others can be something that we can all do, and there are many ways in which we can protect our own and others’ mental health.”

May you find an opportunity to connect more deeply to yourself and those around you.
